   The Des Plaines Community Senior Center and the City of Des Plaines were recognized for their participation in The Maturing of Illinois Community Preparedness Report at the 35th Annual Volunteer Recognition luncheon.
      AgeOptions recognized the many ways Des Plaines continues to prepare for an ever increasing number of individuals over the age of 60. Des Plaines was one of the three communities to be acknowledged by AgeOptions along with Wheeling and Chicago Heights.

What Is The Des Plaines Community Senior Center?
  • Established in 1975 as an independent, 501(c)(3), IRS recognized charitable organization
  • Offers over 55 different programs and services monthly; serves over 10,000 unduplicated individuals annually
  • Recognized by the Illinois Department of Aging as a "Multi-Purpose Senior Center"
  • The new Frisbie Senior Center Named “National Model” by the OLDER AMERICAN REPORT

To promote, for people over 55, active, self-reliant living and fun, through volunteerism, and socially, intellectually, and physically enriching programs.


VISION STATEMENT

As the premier Senior Center in the northwest suburban Chicago, we are a donor supported, nationally recognized, diverse community-based model for promoting and enhancing independence, well being and personal growth of people age 55 and older.
