ACTIVITIES
 We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Jerseypine Cruisers for taking
us riding with them in the Des Plaines Fourth of July Parade!! Click here to view several pics from the parade.
All Programs will be at the Frisbie Senior Center from now on, with the exception of the Veteran’s Affairs Officer who will stay at Prairie Lakes for now. New Member Socials
Odd numbered months – 2nd Wednesday, 10:30AM
Even numbered months – 2nd Tuesday, 10:30AM
Mondays
- Billiards - Monday thru Friday 8:30-4:00
- Computer Lab - Available M-F 8:30-4 for $1.00 - with exceptions when classes are in progress. It’s an opportunity to use a computer if you don’t have one at home.
- Duplicate Bridge 9:00 am to 12:00 noon
- Rummikub - 10:00 am - Frisbie
- Line Dancing - Mondays - 1:30pm. - 2:30pm. You don’t need a partner to do your thing. Members $3.00 ~ Non-members $3.50 At the Senior Center. Please! No black rubber heels...they mar the floor. Instructor: Chuck Jaworski
- Ping Pong - at 8:30am, Ping Pong Lessons at 10:00am
- Pinochle - 12:15 to 3:00 pm
- Canasta with a Twist - at ( FC ) at 12:30pm. If you know the basic Canasta, you will really enjoy the variation we play, You’ll see, it is easy to learn and fun too! Come alone or bring a friend. Join us at either or both locations.
- Woodcarving - Mondays - 9:00am. - 12:00pm. You’re never too old to learn a new art form. Classes are walk-in and free. A highlight is the monthly get-together at a local restaurant.
- My Medicate Matters - By appt only – Dennis Rosa will lead you through 5 Medicare websites so you can search the websites for the answers to questions you might have.
Tuesdays
- Bridge - Social - 9:00 am to 12:00 noon
- Ping Pong - 8:30 am
- Arts & Crafts - 10 AM - 12 Noon Knit, crochet, needle point, plastic rug hooking and more. Join us for a morning or afternoon of fun.
- Peoples Poker - 1:00 to 3:00 pm (PL)

- Square Dancing - Tuesdays - 12:30pm. - 2:30pm. Arndt Park: Members $3.50 ~ Non-members $4.00 Wednesday classes are a bit easier than Tuesday classes.
- Arthritis Aquatics - Tuesdays, Thursdays, 10:30AM - Saturdays, 9AM
The Heritage. This series of water movements has specific purposes related to the joints and surrounding muscles affected by arthritis. We use the heated pool at The Heritage of Des Plaines .
Jo Buck, a trained instructor at the Heritage, leads this very popular class that improves circulation, range of motion and reduces the pain associated with arthritis.
You can pay per class at the door. $6 for Members and Non-Members
Wednesdays
- Diabetes Support Group -
2nd Wednesdays 10:30AM - Come and join Madeline May, the nurse for the City of Des Plaines, as she gets you up to date on information pertinent to those with diabetes. This program often has guest speakers.
- Note-A-Bles - Wednesdays - 10:30 to ? September through May. Our Choral Group is always looking for voices. Nelson Eddy or Jeannette McDonald could help but they have joined the angels’ chorus, so you are welcome.
- Ladies Billiards - 10:00 AM - Lori & Fred Trelka teach on-going billiards for those ladies who would like to learn. Men invited too! This is a drop-in class so registration is not needed. Free for members, $2 for non-members

- Quilting Group - 1:00 pm - Marsha Lucia has begun a quilting group. Anyone who enjoys quilting and would like to participate in quilting and conversation is very welcome to attend.

- Scrabble Tournament – 10am
- Move it or Lose It - Wednesdays at 1pm. This senior exercise class led by a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. The class will focus on strengthening, stretching and balance exercise ability and can even be done by a chair. Members $6 per class, Non-Members $8.
Thursdays
- Issues In The News - Thursdays - 10:00am. - 11:30am. An opportunity to voice your opinions.
- Senior Exercise Group - Thursdays - 11:00am. - 12:00 (PL) Get back to or stay in shape for only Members $3.50 ~ Non-members $4.00.
- Exercise Potluck - Emily Gynn will be teaching a variety of exercise techniques; low impact, chair exercise and yoga. Come and try them all to see which one works best for you! Cost will be $1 per class for members and non-members. Please call 847-768-5944 to register.

- Evening Bridge Tournament -
2nd Thursday of the Month, September through May, 7PM
Art Michaely is the coordinator for our monthly Thursday Evening Bridge Party & Tournament. Please call Art, at 847-296-1692, with any ideas or questions you might have.

- Tai Chi - 9 am - If slow flowing movements and a total body workout are of interest to you, then you will enjoy Tai Chi. Learn the art and health benefits of Tai Chi. Bob Swanson, a certified instructor, teaches this serene exercise, a ten-week course.

Fridays
- ARTS & Crafts - Fridays - 1:00pm. - 3:00pm. An opportunity to show your talents or learn about crafts. Items made are sold in the lobby.
- CA$H Bingo - Fridays - 2nd & 4th 1:00pm. - 3:00pm. Only $1 for the first card. How much better can it get?
- Armchair Travels - 2nd Friday ~ 10:30 am
- Bunco – 3rd Friday of the month
- Round Dancing - Beginners ~ Fridays - 9:30am. - 10:30am. Regular ~ Fridays - 10:30am. - 12:00 Round dancing is pleasure set to music. Come and enjoy. Members $4.00, beginners or regulars - Non-members $4.50 .
- Monthly Golf -
3rd Friday April through October 8:00AM - Lake Park
On the 3rd Friday of the month we hold a Senior Golf Event. The format is easy and allows for a large range of abilities. Outings take place at Lake Opeka Golf Course, which is an easy to walk par three course. This is not league play and you do not have to play every month. The pairings are generally a random drawing. Tiger Woods does not play in this group. Come out and enjoy the fresh air and fellowship. Then join us for lunch at the Frisbie Senior Center where we award prizes and tell tall tales.
Tee-off is at 8:00am. There will be a 32 player limit, so sign up quickly. The cost is $11 for those with a pass to Lake Opeka and $16 for those without a pass. If your spouse would like to join you for lunch, the cost of lunch only is $5.
- Veterans’ Round Table - Every 4th Friday - 10:00am.-‘till ? Veterans of all wars and all branches of service are invited. Only cost is a donation in the ‘Thank You’ can for coffee and. . .
- Women’s Club -
1st Friday of the Month, September through May, 9:30AM
If you are looking for some great presentations and great times, join the women’s club. This is an excellent way to meet new friends and have a good time too! Please join us for coffee and refreshments starting at 9:30AM, the presentation will begin at 10AM Don’t New members are always welcome to join. The September meeting will feature a talk on animals from an expert at the Nature Center. Dues are $7 for the year.
Sundays
- Big Band - 2- 4 pm ( second Sundays of every month from 2-4 ) Stroll down memory lane and, if you choose, "Move to the Music". Our new Big Band, The Falconaires, will be here to perform especially for you. Come out and enjoy a wonderful night of music and dancing. Refreshments will be supplied.
