Welcome Aboard, Ron! The Des Plaines Community Senior Center’s Board of Directors welcomed Ron Buch as their newest member in January. As an ordained minister, Ron started the chaplaincy program at Northwest Community Hospital in 1975. Additional responsibilities over his 31 year tenure have included the ombudsmen function, social work services, and the Administrative Director of cancer support services and he is currently their Executive Director of Community Health and Outreach. The goal of providing primary healthcare as an outreach to the community is to provide accessible, affordable primary healthcare to the uninsured and underinsured in our community. When Ron is not at work, you will often find him serving on boards of community organizations. He believes that America’s strength comes from the spirit of volunteerism and serving one’s neighbor. As a founding member of the Suburban Primary Health Care Council, he helped create the Access to Care program. Ron has served on the Catholic Charities Physician Referral Services advisory board, the Northwest Housing Partnership board, and The Bridge Youth and Family Services. Currently, Ron is serving on the following boards: · Wings (Women in Need Growing Stronger); · The Schaumburg Business Development Commission; and now · The Des Plaines Community and Frisbie Senior Center Ron is a volunteer chaplain with the Huntley Police Department, and a Charter Member of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley. Ron and his wife, Annell, are proud parents of seven children, and eight grandchildren. Ron actively participates in three sports: golf, golf, and golf and this made him a perfect choice to co-chair the Senior Center’s second annual Golf Classic Event at Shore Acres this upcoming August. |
