ESCORTED TRANSPORTATION SERVICES/NORTHWEST

Volunteers use their own cars to drive seniors to medical/dental appointments, wait for them and bring them home again, stopping at the pharmacy if necessary on the way home. Seniors must be able to get in and out of a car without physical assistance. Portable, foldable walkers and wheelchairs are acceptable. A weeks notice is preferred. Ten dollar donations for each round trip will be accepted. Invoices will be sent the month after services are provided.
Our geographical boundaries are: Lake Cook Rd to the north, Biesterfield to the south, Greenwood at Lutheran General to the East, and Barrington Rd to the West. We have a few volunteers willing to go beyond these boundaries whenever they are available.

Tai Chi
9:00 AM - 10:30 AM - Frisbie. If slow flowing movements and a total body workout are of interest to you, then you will enjoy Tai Chi. Learn the art and health benefits of Tai Chi. Bob Swanson, a certified Tai Chi instructor, will teach the serene exercise. This is a ten-week course.

Take Charge of your Health
9:30AM to Noon
Taking Charge of Your Health us a well researched evidence based program aimed at helping those will chronic illness. This class is an interactive program teaching you about coping with pain and fatigue, exercising to improve strength and flexibility, how to use medication, communicating with friends and family, nutrition, and evaluation treatment options.

Senior Citizen Police Academy
10AM to Noon
The Des Plaines Police Department invites you to attend its Senior Citizen Police Academy at the Frisbie Senior Center. This 8 week class is a wonderful opportunity to learn all about Law Enforcement and the role of the Des Plaines Police Department. This class is tailored to meet the needs and issues concerning today’s senior citizen. Issues covered include Cons, Scams, Frauds, Identity Theft, vehicle safety, crimes against seniors, telecommunications, including evidence collection and a ride along with a patrolman in a marked police car. The academy concludes with a graduation ceremony.
